TBSC Seeking Head Coach
The Terrace Blueback competitive swim club located in Northwest BC is seeking a head coach for their program.
Responsible for the organization, development, administration and leadership of the club in support of the clubs’ dedication to sportsmanship and the pursuit of excellence in competitive swimming and is supported by a volunteer executive board. The head coach is the heart of the TBSC, setting the tone for athletes, volunteers and club supporters.
Duties will include representing the club to stakeholders, goal setting and overseeing performance improvement planning for the competitive and pre-competitive programs; fostering athletic, emotional and social growth of our swimmers; and designing strategies which prepare the team for competition. Completing club administrative duties as needed for athlete support and club operations.
The Head coach will act as the direct supervisor for assistant and junior coaches with regular assessments and reviews and making training plans to share with the board of directors for staff.
You will have excellent communications skills allowing you to collaborate consistently and effectively with the board of directors, coaching staff, supporters and athlete families and you will work closely with the Terrace Aquatic Center to establish the club’s yearly practice schedule.
The successful applicant will be familiar with current provincial meet entry systems and proficient in the suite of google office and/ or Microsoft programs.
Terrace is a city located in the Tsimshian Territory in Northwest British Columbia. Our community is situated along the Skeena Rivers and is a year- round outdoor sports and activity destination. The Terrace Blueback swim club currently has 116 swimmers. Our season runs September through to June. A progressive entry into the club alongside the current head coach is a possibility to transition into the head coach role in the 24-25 season.
Requirements:
- minimum of 2 years’ experience coaching in a competitive club
- have completed NCCP level 1 (required)
- Ideally the candidate will have level 2 coach certification
- have completed safe sport training within the last five years
