Join the Terrace Blueback Swim Club Executive Team
Providing governance and leadership to our non-profit society.
The executive role with the Terrace Blueback Swim Club (TBSC) is to provide governance of our non-profit society. Our club's board members are all parent volunteers. Terms in each of the roles are two years. We welcome parents to attend our board meetings and learn more about the role the executive plays in operating the TBSC.
Sarah Meijer - Chair
Sarah Meijer swam with the TBSC as a kid, and now as an adult with the Masters program. Her three daughers are also proud blue backs swimmers. When Sarah is not volunteering for her favorite swim club, you can usually find her up at Shames Mountain, or working at the hospital as a nurse manager.
Marina Downs - Vice Chair & Meet Manager
Marina Downs swam competitively with TBSC as a teenager reaching youth national level. Now swimming with the masters program and enjoying the freedom of the “we’re masters” statement!
Marina works for Northern Health as the medical imaging lead when she's not at the pool as well as sitting on other volunteer boards.

Sarah Grielens - Secretary
Sarah has been cheering her two boys on from the pool deck since 2019. She joined the TBSC executive as secretary in 2021. Sarah has lived in Terrace since 2005 and works in the registrar office at Coast Mountain College. She loves the healthy sense of competition and self-discipline that swim club gives her kids. Go Bluebacks!

Carin Henschel - Fundraising Coordinator
Carin has been a proud mom of 2 Bluebacks swimmers for 3 years now! This is her first year serving on the board but has been present on the deck and at meets since her start. Carin moved to Terrace in 2007 and has been working at the hospital since then as a nurse in Critical Care & the Renal unit. When she’s not at work she can be found where her family is! As the fundraising coordinator, Carin is looking forward to raising funds with you all to support this amazing club and its swimmers!
Leah Sells - Points North Rep
Leah is the mom to two Bluebacks swimmers and this is her first time serving on the board. She moved to Terrace with her family in 2017 and is part of the management team at Coast Mountain Children Society. When she's not at work she's most likely driving her kids to something, somewhere!
